A first visit to Hai Pixel needs exactly three things: grip socks, clothes you can move freely in, and ten spare minutes before your booked hour. The LED floor is played on in grip socks only, shoes stay off it, and if you do not own a pair you buy one from us at 30 MDL a pair, either online while booking or at reception. Hai Pixel, the first interactive LED-floor venue in Chisinau, is in Grand Hall at 2/4 Constantin Negruzzi Blvd, on the second floor, open daily from 10:00 to 22:00.

The rest of this guide is the part nobody tells you in advance: what to wear, what to pack for a child, where to park, how early to arrive, how a session runs from the inside, where non-players sit, and what to do about the person who says up front that they will just watch. The exact price for your headcount is on the pricing page. If you are planning a birthday, the full story of a party is in the article on what a party at Hai Pixel looks like. This piece is strictly the logistics of a first visit.

What to bring on a first visit: the full list

The list is short, and that is the point. You need no equipment and nothing bought in advance. The session covers the floor, the games and the team that runs them, and the only amount added on top is socks, if you do not bring your own.

What to bringWhy it mattersIf you forgot it
Grip socksThe LED floor is played on in grip socks only, no exceptions30 MDL a pair at reception, or add them online while booking
Loose clothesA round means side steps, crouching and short bursts of runningNothing to be done on site, you feel it in the first round
A hair tieLong hair lands in your eyes during the round that countsYou can play without one, but you will regret it by round three
A spare t-shirt for a childChildren warm up within the first minutes of active playThe child goes home in a damp shirt
A charged phoneThe floor light films wellNo photos from the first visit
A drink, or money for the barRounds are short, but thirst arrives quicklyThe bar has lemonades and snacks a few steps from the floor

Nothing else is needed. There is no equipment to rent and nothing to print. To shorten the stop at reception, add the socks online while you book.

Why is it socks only, and which socks actually work?

The floor is pressure sensitive: it registers exactly where you step, which is why the game reacts to your movement. Shoes have no place on it, and the rule has no exceptions, not for adults, not for children, not for the person who wiped their soles.

The second reason is grip. The games ask for sudden stops on a smooth surface, and an ordinary cotton sock slides at precisely the wrong moment. Grip socks have rubber dots on the sole and solve that. Bare feet are not an option either, on a surface dozens of people walk on every day.

If you already own a pair of grip socks at home, bring them and pay nothing extra. If you do not, a pair costs 30 MDL and it is yours to keep, so a second visit does not carry that cost. For a group of ten with no pairs between them the arithmetic is simple: 300 MDL on top of the session price. Worth asking the group beforehand.

Grip socks matter most on the sudden stops inside a round.

What to wear, and what does not work on an LED floor

Dress as you would for a long walk, not for a night out. Nobody is looking at your outfit, but clothes that restrict your stride are felt immediately, because the games ask you to crouch, stand and take quick lateral steps.

OutfitVerdictWhy
Tracksuit bottoms, leggings, loose jeansYesYou crouch and stand back up dozens of times in an hour
Skinny jeans or a stiff beltNoThey restrict the lateral step, which is the core movement
A dress or a skirtNoMany rounds ask for bending and short jumps
Heels, or any footwearNoThe floor is socks only, shoes stay off it
A t-shirt plus one thin layerYesAfter a few rounds most people are down to the t-shirt
Pockets full of keys, phone, coinsNoEverything in a pocket ends up on the floor mid-round
Prescription glassesYes, with careA simple elastic strap solves it for an hour of play

The two common wrong outfits are the person arriving straight from the office and the guest dressed up for a birthday. Both will play less than they paid for, because they avoid half the movements. A change of clothes in a backpack transforms the session, and at a birthday it is worth telling guests in advance.

What to pack for a child

For a child the list shifts slightly. The most useful thing in the bag is a spare t-shirt: children warm up within the first minutes and, unlike adults, do not pace themselves. The second is a bottle of water or money for the bar, because the gaps between rounds are when they ask for a drink.

If you have grip socks at home in the child's size, take them. Socks that slide around the foot are more annoying than socks that slide on the floor, and a child who stops every thirty seconds to pull them up loses half the round.

Two things to know in advance. The games are built for ages 3 to 93, and children under 6 must be accompanied by an adult on the floor. And for a small child on a first visit, one hour is usually the safer choice than two: if it goes well, you book two hours next time.

Getting to Grand Hall, second floor, and where to park

The address is 2/4 Constantin Negruzzi Blvd, Chisinau, in the Grand Hall building, on the second floor. If you come by taxi that address is enough, and the word worth adding is the floor: the venue is not at street level. We are open daily 10:00 to 22:00 and the team speaks Romanian, English and Russian.

The building has spacious parking, available for a fee, so you will not be circling the block looking for a space. If you arrive in two or three cars, agree in advance that you meet upstairs at reception rather than in the car park, otherwise ten minutes disappear into phone calls.

The second floor matters in one case, but an important one: someone arriving with a pushchair, with a very small child in their arms, or anyone who finds stairs difficult. Do not improvise on the day. Call +373 79 238 617 in advance, say what the situation is, and we will tell you the most comfortable way in.

How early should you arrive?

Ten minutes before your booked hour, or fifteen if there are more than nine of you. The session starts at the booked hour, not when the last person finishes tying their socks. A one hour session means 55 minutes of actual play, and a two hour session means one hour and 55 minutes. Every minute of lateness comes out of your time on the floor, not somebody else's.

What happens in those ten minutes: you confirm the booking, pick up socks if you did not bring your own, leave shoes and coats, and step onto the floor. For two or four people, ten minutes is generous. For a group of twelve arriving in waves, fifteen is realistic.

The two tricks that save the most time: tick the socks online while booking, and send the group the full address including the floor. For a birthday party the margin is bigger, because there is a cake and decorations to bring in, and those details are covered in the article on what a party looks like from end to end.

Should you book ahead, and when is the room busiest?

Booking ahead is strongly recommended. Free hours are visible on the booking page, and for an instant confirmation on a specific hour, call +373 79 238 617. Weekends fill up fast, so for Friday, Saturday or Sunday book at least 24 hours ahead.

The part few people anticipate is the weekday pattern. The Monday to Thursday band between 10:00 and 16:00 is the cheapest in the whole schedule and, at the same time, our busiest. The two go together: a low price attracts exactly the large groups that can choose their hour, meaning children's groups, camps and organised outings. The practical consequence for a family of four arriving on a Tuesday at 11:00 is that you may not have the room to yourselves. Up to 8 play on one floor and the venue has three, so two bookings run in parallel without getting in each other's way, but you hear it and see it.

Conversely, the quietest hours we have are Monday to Thursday evenings, between 16:00 and 22:00. If you want a calm first visit with no second group in the room, that is the window to pick. It costs more than the morning, but the gap is smaller than people expect: for four players an hour on Tuesday morning is 600 MDL, and the same hour on Tuesday evening is 800 MDL.

If you are flexible on the hour, say so when you call. The difference between a no and a yes is often half an hour.

How a session runs, step by step

Once inside, you do not need to know anything in advance. The session has a fixed structure and a member of the team who runs it.

  1. Reception. You confirm the booking under your name, pick up socks if you did not bring your own, and leave shoes and heavy coats.
  2. Stepping onto the floor. Someone from the team explains the first round in two sentences. There is no long briefing, because the games are understood as you go.
  3. The first round. It lasts 2-3 minutes, like every other. The score appears on the LED wall, in plain view, the moment the round ends.
  4. The next round. The game changes. You do not pick from a menu: the team matches games to the group in front of them, by age, size and energy, from a library of over 30 games.
  5. Breaks. Taken when the group wants them, not at fixed times. The bar and the table area are a few steps away.
  6. The end. A one hour session gives you 55 minutes of play, a two hour session one hour and 55 minutes.

One thing that surprises people on a first visit: nobody queues. Up to 8 play on one floor at once, a second floor opens automatically from 9 players and a third from 17, so a group of twenty plays at the same time, not in shifts.

Where do the people who are not playing sit?

Next to the floor there is a table area, with the bar alongside it. From there you can see both the floor and the score wall, so a grandparent or a colleague who came only for the company is not sitting with their back to everything. Coats, backpacks and the phones that should not be in a pocket mid-round end up there too.

The bar has lemonades and snacks, so a parent can sit through an hour without leaving the building. And the best photos come from the side, at table level, not from the floor: the tile light reads properly and the whole group fits in frame.

The bar sits beside the floor, so a break is not an exit.

What if someone in the group does not want to play?

This is settled at booking, not on the day. A session is priced on the number of players, so enter the number who will actually step onto the floor. Anyone coming purely as company sits in the table area. For eight friends where two came only to talk, that changes the amount you pay.

Honestly, here is what usually happens: the person who said they would just watch is on the floor by round three. Rounds last 2-3 minutes and nobody needs to know a rule in advance, so the barrier to joining is close to zero. If somebody is hesitating, book one player more, not one less.

There is also the opposite case, and there the honest answer is different. If half the group does not want to move at all, this is the wrong choice: a session where four play and four look at their phones is an hour paid for nothing.

A worked example, with the arithmetic

A family of four, two parents and two children, comes on a Wednesday at 11:00 for a one hour session. The session costs 600 MDL. Nobody owns grip socks, so four pairs are bought: 120 MDL. The total on the way out is 720 MDL, or 180 MDL per person, and the socks go home with them.

Group of 10, Tuesday 19:00, 1 hour1640 MDL300 MDL1940 MDL194 MDL

Two observations. First: on a second visit, if everyone brings their own socks, you pay only the session price. Second: the cost per person falls as the group grows, because the price climbs in steps rather than proportionally. Ten people on a Tuesday evening pay 194 MDL each including new socks, while four people on a Saturday pay 250 MDL. The full table is on the pricing page.

When a first visit is not a good idea

Some situations are honestly not worth coming for right now, and we would rather say so before you book.

  • An injured knee, ankle or back. The games ask for sudden stops and changes of direction. Nothing forces a pace on you, but the group's pace pulls everyone along.
  • A child under 3. The games start at age 3, and under 6 a child must be accompanied by an adult on the floor. Below three it is simply not for them.
  • A group that wants to sit and talk. Here you sit down only during breaks. If conversation is the point of the evening, choose somewhere built for it.
  • An outing in formal clothes. If the group arrives dressed for photographs, half will not play and the hour is wasted.
  • Anyone who finds stairs difficult. We are on the second floor. Call +373 79 238 617 in advance and we will sort out a comfortable way in, rather than discovering the problem on the day.

Everything else works well, including the cases people do not think of: two adults with no children, or colleagues for an hour after work.

Questions people ask before a first visit

What do I need to bring on a first visit to Hai Pixel?

Grip socks and clothes you can move freely in. If you do not own grip socks you buy a pair from us at 30 MDL, online while booking or at reception. For a child, add a spare t-shirt. Nothing else is needed.

Are grip socks mandatory? Can I play barefoot?

Yes they are mandatory, and no, barefoot is not an option. The LED floor is played on in grip socks only, because the surface is smooth and the games ask for sudden stops. If you already own a pair, bring it and pay nothing extra.

Where do I park at Grand Hall?

The building has spacious parking, available for a fee. The address is 2/4 Constantin Negruzzi Blvd, Chisinau, and the venue is on the second floor, so you will not see it from the street. If you arrive in several cars, agree to meet upstairs at reception.

How early should I arrive?

Ten minutes before your booked hour, or fifteen if there are more than nine of you. The session starts at the booked hour, and a one hour session means 55 minutes of actual play. Every minute of lateness comes out of your own time on the floor.

Do I need to book ahead, and which hours are quietest?

Booking ahead is strongly recommended: check the free hours on the booking page or call +373 79 238 617. The Monday to Thursday band from 10:00 to 16:00 is our cheapest and at the same time our busiest, so you may share the room with a group. The quietest hours are Monday to Thursday evenings, between 16:00 and 22:00. Weekends fill up fast, so book at least 24 hours ahead.

What does a first visit cost for a family of four?

On a Wednesday at 11:00, a one hour session for four players costs 600 MDL, plus 120 MDL if nobody owns grip socks, so 720 MDL in total. The same session on a Saturday is 880 MDL, or 1000 MDL with socks.

One step is left: pick your hour. Check availability and book on the booking page, check the exact price on the pricing page, or call +373 79 238 617. We are in Grand Hall, 2/4 Constantin Negruzzi Blvd, second floor, open daily from 10:00 to 22:00.
